Indications for Graduated Compression Levels

15-20 mmHg:
- Heavy, fatigued, tired legs.
- Prophylaxis during pregnancy.
- Prophylaxis for legs predisposed to risk.
- Long hours of standing or sitting.
Great for travel or if you're on your feet a lot. All of the 15-20 mmHg compression stockings by Sigvaris are easy to wear and easy to care for. They come in many great styles and fits by shoe size. Not recommended if you have a large amount of swelling.
20-30 mmHg (Class 1):
- Heavy, fatigued, tired, aching legs.
- Mild varicosities during pregnancy.
- Mild varicosities minimal edema (swelling).
- Post-sclerotherapy for small veins.
The Class 1 compression stockings made by Sigvaris are a high quality compression stocking and are effective in controlling swelling and DVT prevention. Please consult your doctor to see if this level of compression is right for you.
30-40 mmHg (Class 2):
- Moderate to severe varicosities with mild edema during pregnancy.
- Mild varicosities moderate edema.
- Post fracture, post traumatic edema.
- After sclerotherapy or phlebectomy of larger veins or vein stripping to maintain treatment success.
- Primary venous ulcer treatment.
- Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) or Post Thrombatic Syndrome.
- Mild primary lymphedema after decongestant therapy to maintain reduction, secondary lymphedema.
Class 2 compression is appropriate for chronic venous insufficiency and ongoing DVT prevention. Please consult your doctor to see if this level of compression is right for you.
CAUTIONS:
- Signs of infection.
- Extensive venous ulceration.
- Skin sensitivities, or allergies.
- Neuropathy.
- History of Diabetes.
- Confinement to bed or non-ambulatry use unless otherwise prescribed by the physician.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
- Arterial Insufficiency, intermittent claudication, ischemia.
- Uncontrolled congestive heart failure.
- Acute dermatitis, weeping dermatosis, cutaneous sepsis.
